Splash of Water in my Face

I have this little hobby. . .when I get bored, I go to real estate sites and look at houses. So, since I'm from the Cleveland area, I was looking at houses around where my family lives. Lo and behold, I find a listing for the house that my grandparents used to live in. They moved out about 12 years ago, and it's very odd to see pictures of it now. Of course the carpeting got replaced at some point, and they painted over some of the outdated wallpaper and whatnot (even though that paint is now peeling), but it's still weird to see it empty.

My grandparents have since passed on, and when I told my mom that I found their house listed online and one very major thing that had happened to it, she just said that they're up there laughing because that house is somebody else's problem now.

I never thought of that house as a headache. . .only a playground with laundry chutes (the most fun a kid can have), swinging saloon doors, and a HUGE backyard.

The thing that really got me was that my grandmother kept that house in impeccable shape. It was nicely decorated and had a garden that my grandfather tended, berry bushes, and a gorgeous magnolia tree out front. It's just weird to see it not tended for.

Anyway, it's just one of those things that make you see that time goes by faster than you realize. . .and gives you an excuse to think of some fun memories.

March Madness

March Madness can be summed up by the following sound:

eee eee eee eee (say it squeakily)

The noise of tennis shows on wooden floors.

I filled out my bracket this year the normal way:

1) Schools I've heard of/know someone who went there
2) Schools from anywhere I've lived (wooo! Cleveland State!)
3) Seeded rankings
4) Gonzaga (they had the cutest boys when I was in college)

Surprising thing is that I'm actually doing pretty well this year. I know next to nothing about college basketball, but it's serving me well. I've also watched about 15 minutes total of the tournament so far.

I really think they could make other sports much more enjoyable if they just created brackets for them:

-Golf
-Tennis
-Bowling
-Bobsled

Who am I kidding. . .bobsled is already awesome!

In any case, go Mizzou!

How YOU doin?

A comment on my blog made me realize that I need to post!

So many things going on. . .

1) I'm moving! exciting! Just within Chicago, but I forgot how fun (ha ha!!) the apt search can be.

2) Have a show coming up - 8 weeks starting at the end of April at iO 7pm on Sundays. Mark your calendars now!

Ok, that aside, can we talk about how gross St. Patrick's day food is? I'll eat corned beef once a year. once. Cabbage=farts. It smells like farts AND causes them (not in me of course, because I'm a lady). Boiled potatoes (SO many better things you can do with potatoes). BUT the best thing ever is Irish Soda Bread. yummy!

Speaking of food I'd rather not eat - I went to the Bin 36 Movies in the Loft event on Sunday (with mom. . .aww!) and they were showing Best in Show. They didn't release the menu ahead of time, which made me suspicious. There aren't many proteins I don't like (I'll even eat snails!), but of course, they manage to serve the one I don't like at all: lamb. blech. I just gagged a little bit typing that. There was an option to get the vegetarian meal. . .which featured cabbage (see: paragraph before), so I figured I would just choke down the lamb. Surprise! The lamb stew was good!! So. . .lesson learned. . .sometimes things you don't like can surprise you.

Except cabbage. There's nothing surprising about cabbage.
