Sign o' the times

First and foremost - I need to correct a URL from a previous post. The Sims 3 homelessness blog is actually aliceandkev.wordpress.com, not blogspot. It's very good, so be sure to check it out!

The other day, I got an e-mail at work about a company in our building that went bankrupt and was giving away their remaining furniture for free. "Awesome!" I thought, "Maybe I can get a desk for nothing!" A bunch of us went to the office to check it out, and I'm thinking it was one of the smaller companies in the building, but in actuality, it was a company that took up 2 (maybe 3) floors. Walking around there, we saw their old kitchens, editing rooms, meeting rooms, and offices (every person had an office! jealous!). Bizarre antler chandeliers, cool modern art, and unique wall art in each office. Then. . .while scavenging through what was left, it hit me. . .all of those offices were once filled with people. All of those people are now jobless. They once walked into their swank office for the first time, excited to work in such a vibrant place, and now. . .who knows where they are or what they're doing. As I left, I looked at the door and saw the eviction notice from the building. They owed $173k+ in rent. Wow. It made me wonder how quickly the business went under, and if the people who worked there had any idea things were so bad.

Anyway, hopefully things will get better and no more swank office will have to go empty. With weird mismatched art. . .and furniture that won't fit in my apt. damn.

Neglect

This is so awkward, blog. You see. . .I've found someone else. Someone who makes my life easy and doesn't demand a lot of me. It accepts my random little thoughts and doesn't demand much more. Yes. . .I've discovered Twitter.

First, 140 characters isn't a lot! 2nd. . .I'm kinda sick of it. Do people really care that my head hurts? Or that I heart Berry Chill? (ok, Berry Chill cares that I heart Berry Chill. . .maybe Red Mango cares a little too).

Ok, so a brief update -

1) I'm in a show! Yay! It's an improvised 12-step program called The Steps. It's with Theatre Momentum (www.theatremomentum.com) at the Greenhouse Theater in Lincoln Park on Thursdays and Saturdays from Aug 13- Sept 19. Currently in rehearsals and it's been fun to meet and perform with some new people.

2) Helped some friends with their 48 hour film festival submission over the weekend. Basically, they got their theme on Friday night, wrote a script, we filmed on Saturday, they edited Sunday and turned it in that evening. It looks pretty cool, but I look like a cow, so I'm not posting a link here. Thankfully, my P90X arrived the same day I had to see myself on film.

3) P90X! My friend Marla is keeping an awesome blog about her journey with it. It's basically this 12 DVD program that you do for 90 days. It came with a nutrition book and some other book. I need to take some time to look through them. I'm sure you'll just hear me unconstructively whine about how I'm sore once I start . .she's much more articulate. Check it out at marlafaye13.blogspot.com.

4) People like lists. . .have you noticed that?

5) New apt is good! Water smells kinda weird. . .I'm considering getting a Pur filter for my tap.

6) I've been playing the Sims 3. . .a lot. . .it's fun though. I created a Gosselin family and now the kids are having kids. My goal is for them to run the town. We shall see. I'm also obsessed with finding this garden gnome that's hidden in the game. I'll post pics once I find it. Here's a cool blog about a story of homelessness as told through Sims 3: aliceandkev.blogspot.com

Aight - that's it from me! Hope you haven't missed my blabber too much. . .
